The management group of Audi America has announced the prices for the new generation of the A8 L W12 model, which starts at 135.675 US dollars.

Luxury isn’t cheap, this is what future customers of the A8 L W12 model will have to find out on their own. With “goodies” such as a panoramic sunroof, comfort seats with ventilation and massage functions, rear-seat entertainment, 20-inch wheels or the Audi connection to Google Earth have a price: over 130.000 dollars.

The top of the line Audi A8 L W12 is powered by the new 6.3 liter twelve-cylinder engine which develops 500 horsepower. According to the manufacturer, the A8 L W12 has a 14 mpg in the city and a 21 mpg on the highway fuel consumption. The price announced by the German car manufacturer also includes a 875 dollars destination charge and a 1.300 $ gas-guzzler tax.

Even though the new A8 L isn’t quite cheap, it actually isn’t the most expensive Audi model available in the US. The 2012 Audi R8 GT has a price of almost $200,000, or, to be more exactly, 198.050 dollars, which also includes a 1.250 $ destination charge.

With the parent Volkswagen trying to push the brand closer to the Bentley territory, the new model has a serious competition on the over-seas auto market.
